Community Sports Network

 Huntingdonshire Further Education Questionnaire

From January 2009 Huntingdonshire District Council will be compiling data submitted from all of the Colleges and Sixth Forms within Huntingdonshire to begin to understand the level of sport and physical activity that students aged 16 plus undertake as part of their day to day lives, the information will also help to address sixth form sport and physical activity opportunities as part of 'Sports Unlimited' unveiled by Sport England in 2008.

The deadline for the questionnaire has now closed.

Once the data has been collated the information will be available on this site for future reference.

Continue to check this page to find out the results of the questionnaire.

What is a Community Sports Network?

The Community Sports Network (CSN) is an initiative developed by Sport England to recognise and enhance sport for everyone within their local community.

The Huntingdonshire Community Sports Network plays a key role in the delivery of sport in and for the community.

How did the CSN begin?

The Government has set a national target to increase the number of people taking part in sport and recreation by 1% annually through increasing community participation.

To achieve these objectives Sport England has developed ‘The Delivery System for Sport’ clarifying the roles and responsibilities that all parties play in providing opportunities for all.

What does this mean for Huntingdonshire?

The Huntingdonshire Community Sports Network was established in March 2008. It is the first CSN to be established in Huntingdonshire. The network is responsible for developing a sustainable local sport and physical activity infrastructure that brings together all the agencies involved in providing opportunities for sport and physical activity in the district.

What do we want to achieve?

Huntingdonshire scored relatively well in the Active People survey in comparison to the East Region and national averages but we recognise there is still room for improvement particularly in the 16-34 age group where we scored less well. The plan seeks to fill gaps left in provision and address the need for direct deliverers, whilst also complimenting existing projects that identify a varying range of target groups such as Exercise Referral, Health Walks, and Cardiac Rehabilitation.

The 5 key areas that this project is focused towards are:

  • Day time activity programmes for disabled adults
  • Adventurous activities for participants aged 16-34
  • Outreach activities for older teenagers and young people
  • Twilight Activities for 14-19 year olds
  • Lunchtime and After school clubs in Primary Schools

How will we monitor what we deliver?

The Huntingdonshire Community Sports Network will be measuring it's impact in achieving outcomes identified within the action plan in order to demonstrate that initiatives to increase community participation have been successful or not.
