Swimming Lessons

Learning to swim is an important skill for everyone to learn.  Our qualified teaching staff help you and your children gain confidence, develop technique and enjoy swimming.

Swim 4 Life Scheme News

Huntingdonshire's Leisure Centres will be transferring to an in-house 'Swim 4 Life' teaching syllabus from January 2009.

This follows a Leisure Centre survey into swimming lessons carried out in February 2008 and changes to the scheme provided by Amateur Swim Association National Plan for Teaching Swimming which will come into effect from September 2009.

Baby Swimming Lessons (6+ months)

These swimming lessons are designed to introduce babies and toddlers to aquatic activities.  Classes will involve a selection of skills including the movement of arms and legs, rolling from front to back, blowing bubbles, floating and submerging.

Cygnets classes are for 6 months to 18 months and Baby Ducks classes are for 18 months to 3 years.  Parents must accompany their child in the water.

Junior Swimming Lessons (3+ years)

We provide swimming lessons for 3+ years by incorporating the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) National Plan for teaching swimming.  Our qualified teaching staff help your child gain confidence, develop technique and enjoy swimming.

Adult Swimming Lessons

It is never too late to learn to swim or develop your technique.  Adult lessons are available for the complete beginner to the more advanced swimmer. Teachers will follow the ASA adult programme to improve your skills and ability.

  • Every Tuesday evening
  • 7.45pm – 8.30pm
  • £5.40 per lesson

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)

This is the most widely recognised lifeguard qualification in the UK with over 33,000 lifeguards gaining the NPLQ every year.

The course is for 16+ years and provides an excellent way to start working in the leisure industry giving you valuable skills which can be used throughout your life.
