It is known that access to creative activities can have a positive – and often transforming - effect on the health and wellbeing of both individuals and their wider communities.
We are currently working on the development of a programme which will offer opportunities for people to take part in locally-based arts sessions, having been referred by a medical practitioner.
Details are still being firmed up, so please come back later for further information.
In the meantime, the links on the right give more details of research into the effects of the arts on health.
Inspire
Where am I? A project for people who would like to try out digital photography, visual art and creative writing - no previous experience required! Wednesdays and Fridays 1 - 3pm from 11th June to Friday 25th July 08.
Do you sometimes feel a lack of opportunities or confidence to express yourself, or do you wonder if you have anything in common with the people who live around you? Come along to some relaxed and supportive sessions at St Barnabas Centre in Huntingdon, where you can find out how easy and fun it can be to use words and images. You may discover new things about yourself and other people too. The sessions are led by friendly professional artists, who shape the project to suit people's needs and ideas.
All you need to do is bring yourself, and a friend if you like. If you'd like to know more about it or let us know you are coming, you can ring Freya at Inspire on 01223 441106.
You are asked to make a contribution of £1 per session, and you will be given a mounted presentation of your work at the end of the project.
