Arts

Artwork from Art Attack Workshop St Ives

Huntingdonshire has a wealth of arts and cultural activities just waiting to be discovered.  There is something for everyone on our What’s On listings, where you can search through hundreds of different events across the district to find something special to enjoy.

The Arts Service at the District Council is in the Community Team and promotes its own programme of events during the year, sometimes in partnership with other colleagues or external organisations, offering people the chance to be involved as both participants and audiences.

Our overall aim is to provide and promote arts-related activities.  The key service objectives are to:

• provide a range of arts activities to encourage self-expression and support sound health and vibrant communities
• increase accessibility to a range of arts activities to meet the social and cultural needs of residents and visitors.

Fuller details of our projects will be found by following the links on the left of this page.  The Arts Service pages are always being updated, so please come back for up to the minute news and information.

Riverside Music

Music lovers throughout Huntingdonshire are in for a treat over the next twelve weeks, as the ever-popular Riverside Music season makes a welcome return for the summer months.

This year’s programme includes a variety of music from traditional brass and silver bands to jazz and pop, and is sure to offer something for everyone.  As well as local groups such as the Huntingdonshire Concert Band, St Neots Big Band and Somersham Town Band, talented ensembles are also coming from across the country.

The season begins on Sunday 14th June, and the free concerts take place in St Ives (The Waits) and Ramsey (Abbey Green) until 2nd August, and Huntingdon (Riverside Park) and St Neots (Riverside Park) until 30th August. The concerts run from 2.30-4.30pm and are free!

Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend 24 – 26 July 2009

Following last year’s success, the London 2012 Open Weekend returns to celebrate art, culture, sport, and everything that makes up the London 2012 Games.

So, if your organisation would like to be part of the Cultural Olympiad London 2012 Open Weekend, you can register your event on line.  It doesn’t necessarily have to be a new event, it could be something you already have planned for that weekend but, once registered, it will benefit from the brand marketing. For more information follow the link on the right of this page.
