Home-Link is a choice based lettings (CBL) scheme that provides a different way of letting council and housing association homes. The scheme covers Huntingdonshire and six other council areas. These are: Cambridge City; East Cambridgeshire; Fenland; Forest Heath; South Cambridgeshire and St Edmundsury.
How to apply to Home-Link
If you have a housing need and would like to register on the Home-Link scheme you can apply by:
-
completing an on-line application form on the Home-Link website (click on the link in the External Links box on the right of this page and then go to the Registration page), or
-
downloading and printing an Application form from the Linked Documents box on the right hand side of this page, or
-
e-mailing to request that a paper form be posted to you (by clicking on the link in the Related Information box on the right hand side of this page
Other forms are also available in the Related Information box on the right hand side of this page. These are:
-
a Choice of Area form - so that we can record the areas where people would like to live. This will help with things like planning where to build new housing
-
a Medical form - if you have a medical condition that is affected by where you live
-
an Additional Person form - if you would like to add an adult or a child to an existing application.
-
Change of Address - if you move from the address that you applied from, you will need to complete this form in order for your application to remain active.
Properties that are available
Under the scheme most council and housing association homes that become available for letting will be advertised. There will be an advertising cycle every fortnight when people registered on the Home-Link scheme can see what properties are available. Adverts will be:
-
on the Home-Link website (see the External Links box on the right of this page)
-
in the Home-Link property magazine
-
at council and housing association offices
If you have applied to the scheme you will be able to express an interest (known as making a bid) for the homes you would like to be considered for. The person who has the highest assessed need, and meets the criteria for the property, and has bid for the property will then be offered the tenancy.
Please remember that there are far more people applying for these properties than there are properties available. We would encourage everyone to consider all their housing options, including privately renting and low cost home ownership options rather than purely relying on housing via the Home-Link scheme.
If you would like more information about your housing options please see the information on this website or call us on 01480 388218, or by e-mail using the "E-mail Housing Services" link at the top right of this page.
