Anyone aged 16 or older can apply to the Council’s Housing Register. However, until the applicant reaches 18 years old, they will not be eligible to bid through the CBL scheme without a guarantor for their tenancy. Also, applicants under 18 years old will be encouraged to initially go into supported housing schemes such as Kings Ripton Court and Paines Mill Foyer to enable them to learn life skills to help them hold a tenancy of their own in the future.
The council assesses each application and awards a level of priority for housing based on each person’s individual circumstances. Priority is awarded to applicants that have a local connection with the Huntingdonshire District over those that do not have a local connection.
All social rented properties in the district are owned by housing associations (also known as Registered Social Landlords). The council works in partnership with these landlords and the majority of properties that are available to let are advertised through the Home-Link scheme. By registering on with the Home-Link scheme you are applying to the council's Housing Register and you will be able to participate in the Home-Link scheme.
If you have a housing need and would like to apply to Home-Link scheme please go to the scheme website (click on the link in the External Links box on the right of this page and then go to the Registration page).
You can complete an on line form at this website or request a paper form to complete and return. Alternatively, you can download the forms, which can be found in linked documents on the right hand side of this page, complete and return to us with the documentation requested. Please remember though that there are far more people applying for these properties than there are properties available. We would encourage everyone to consider all their housing options, including privately renting and low cost home ownership options rather than purely relying on housing via the Home-Link scheme.
If you would like more information about your housing options please see the information on this website or call us on 01480 388222 or 388223, or by e-mail using the "E-mail Housing Services" link at the top right of this page.
