Health Walks
Walkers in St Neots

The Huntingdonshire Health Walks scheme is part of the national initiative “Walking the Way to Health” in partnership with the Cambridgeshire NHS. The scheme currently runs in 5 district towns, Huntingdon, Ramsey, St Ives, St Neots and Yaxley on a regular basis. They provide people in the community with the opportunity to participate in organised health walks with trained leaders and volunteers. Walking is an easy and free way to get fit and stay healthy.

The “Walking the Way to Health” Initiative is a national programme. “Walking the way to Health” (WHI) aims to get more people walking in their own communities; especially those who take little exercise or live in areas of poor health.

Aim of the scheme

  • To promote healthy walking
  • To enlighten and motivate people about opportunities to walk in their own neighbourhood, either on their own or with friends.
  • To arrange a regular programme of short led walks.
  • To promote places to walk that already exist.
  • To identify new routes appropriate for healthy walks and accessible to all.
