What is an Assisted Collection?
An Assisted Collection is where the crew of the refuse vehicle come and collect your bin from its normal storage place, take it to the truck for you and then return it.
Do I Qualify for Assisted Collections?
Assisted Collections are only available for people who are unable to take their bins (or bags) out themselves. This may include:
- People with disabilities
- The infirm or elderly
- The visually impaired
What do I need to do to get Assisted Collections?
The Council is unable to provide this service to households where there is a person able to take the bins (or bags) out living in the household. We are also unable to provide assisted collections to people living above ground floor.
If you think you are eligible for Assisted Collections, please call the number shown above. In some cases we may wish to visit you to discuss your requirements in more detail.
Alternative Options
If you are not eligible for Assisted Collections, you may wish to consider a smaller wheeled bin. This is the same height as the regular bin, but is narrower and holds less waste, therefore making it lighter.
