Local Sustainability

Sustainable Development - We are committed to improving the quality of life and well-being of local people in a way that seeks to protect and enhance the environment and encourages sustainable local economic development. Community - Huntingdonshire is a diverse and varied district with many distinct and vibrant communities.  We are working closely with local people and other partners to deliver services and initiatives which are responsive to what local people actually want.
Huntingdonshire District Council has done much work with local people on improving the quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors in the area.  However, we cannot do it without your help.  Between November 1999 and September 2000, we undertook an extensive consultation process to make sure that we are doing what you expect us to do.  You have told us your aspirations and hopes, your concerns and worries.  We are committed to doing what we can to help you realize the environment and community in which you want to live. In partnership with you, we have developed a strategy which starts to address some of the issues that you have told us are important.  We will be working with other organisations and local communities to see that the targets in this strategy are met. To find information on community groups in Cambridgeshire, follow the link in the external links box on the right.
