Weed Spraying
Pathways and gullies are treated twice a year to help control the spread of weeds in these areas. This is normally done at the beginning of the summer and autumn. We try to do this work at times when rain is not forecast in order to get maximum benefit from the treatment. However, there are no guarantees with British weather!
Grass Cutting
The district council cuts grassed areas throughout the district on a cyclical basis. Some areas require cutting more often than others. Banks may only be cut once or twice a year, where playing fields may be cut up to 13 times a year. This work is seasonal, so grass might be cut every week or fortnight in the summer, but left longer in the winter. Some Parish Councils cut the verges in their parishes on the behalf of the County Council. Please see the list at the bottom of this page.
Reporting a Problem
If you do see a grass cutting or weed problem, please contact us. We will need to know the location of the problem, the nature of the problem, and as many other details to help us make sure we have the appropriate tools to do the job, or can let you know why we are unable to take action.
