Fly tipping is an increasing problem throughout the country. The Council has an excellent record at cleaning up fly tipping, which we try hard to maintain, as none of us want to live or work in an unpleasant environment.
What is Fly Tipping?
Fly tipping is where rubbish is dumped without the permission of the landowner - this could be in a layby, on a street, in an open space or on private land. Fly tipping is frequently items that are difficult or expensive to dispose of - tyres, mattresses, household appliances, rubbish left over from building or DIY projects and so on.
Fly tipping can have Public Health implications depending on the nature of the waste, is unsightly, costly for the Council to remove and can constitute Anti-Social Behaviour
How to Report Fly Tipped Waste
Please use the link on the right to report fly tipped waste, or call us.
Please give as many details as possible about the type of waste tipped and the location. You may also be asked for some indication of the amount of dumping.
If you have any information about the person(s) responsible for tipping the waste, please pass these on, as this may help us to take further action. You give this information over the phone without leaving your name if you wish.
Council Powers
The council only has the powers to remove fly tipped waste from council owned land, if the land is privately owned then please contact the landowner. If you are the landowner, the responsibility rests with you for removing the tipped waste. If you have any information about the person(s) responsible, please contact the Community Safety Team.
