Hedges

Hedges are an invaluable part of our countryside and help to screen development. They also support a wide variety of wildlife.

High Hedges

Problems can occur if a neighbours hedge is allowed to grow unchecked and causes a nuisance. To find out about the new legislation which now allows local authorities to consider complaints use the external link to The ODPM website on the right.

Complaints to the Council should be a last resort and only after you have made attempts to resolve the matter with your neighbour.

Huntingdonshire District Council makes a charge to the complainant for the work involved in intervening in a high hedge dispute.  The current fee for this service is £450.

For more information about high hedge complaints, how the council can become involved and the fee payable  Contact Tracey Guinea on 01484 388390 for more help.
