Many household nuisances can be dealt with by using traps and chemicals available in the shops but sometimes it is advisable to call in the experts to solve a persistent problem.
In deciding whether control action should be taken it is necessary to assess the costs of the proposed action in relation to the benefits which will be derived and any control action must be based on sound pest control principles which are effective, safe, legal and humane.
Pest Control Service
Huntingdonshire District Council has a small team of experts who specialise in getting rid of pests and some of the techniques and controls they use may not be available in the shops.
The Pest Control Section of the Environmental and Community Health Services Division carries out thousands of treatments every year for rats, mice, wasps and various other insects in both domestic and commercial premises. With the exception of rats and cockroaches in occupied domestic premises all treatments are chargeable.
Following a visit from one of our operatives a printed statement is left at the site of every treatment which details the chemical constituents of the product used and the method of application. Where necessary, a further visit is made to replenish or remove baits and containers, all of which will remain the property of the District Council.
