General Food Hygiene Information

The best way to prevent food poisoning is to practice safe and hygienic food handling procedures.

CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Caterers 

Training is available for the Charted Institute of Environmental Heath (CIEH) Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Caterers (formerly Basic Food Hygiene Course)   This course is held over an afternoon and early evening.   The course ends with a short multiple choice examination paper.  Certificates will be awarded to successful candidates and the course is equivalent to Level 2 training as required by Regulation EC No 852/2004.

If your first language is not English or you have reading or writing difficulties then oral examinations can be conducted.

Food Safety Refresher Training

This course is designed for those food handlers who attended and passed the Basic Food Hygiene Course some years ago.  The course is of 3 hours duration and has a short multiple choice examination paper at the end.  Candidates must be able to produce their certificate from the Basic Food Hygiene Course.
