How the Council sets the Council Tax
Each year the Council meets to decide on how much money will be needed to pay for the services we provide. This is done following a review of the budgets of all the service departments like Planning and Housing.
The Councillors then look at how much money can be spent from our reserves and how much we will receive from central government grants. The amount that is left is the amount that needs to be raised form Council Tax.
The Council Tax is based on a Band D charge. If your home is in another band, the charge is adjusted. Higher bands (E – H) pay more and lower bands (A – C) pay less.
