The Council is composed of 52 Councillors who represent 29 wards across Huntingdonshire District. They are elected by thirds which means there is a District Council election in three out of four years. Currently the political composition of the Council is -
Conservatives - 38
Liberal Democrats - 12
Independents - 2
The Leader of the Council is Councillor Ian Bates and his Deputy is Councillor Mike Simpson. The Leader of the Opposition is Councillor Peter Downes.
Councillors John Davies and J J Dutton are the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Council respectively.

You can contact your Councillors to help you if you have a local issue that you want to bring to their attention or are dissatisfied with the Council services.
All Members receive a basic allowance and a number also receive a Special Responsibility Allowance. Details of the Members' Allowances Scheme are included in Part 6 of the District Council's Constitution (please see linked documents). A report on the total allowances paid to the Members each year is included on the Agenda for the Annual Council Meeting each year (please use Council Meetings link).
All Councillors agree to abide by a Code of Conduct to ensure they maintain high standards of conduct when undertaking their Council duties. A Members' Code of Conduct is included in Part 5 of the District Council's Constitution.
