In the west of the District and by-passed by the A14 are the farming villages of Bythorn and Keyston.  Bythorn, around its Green, has a now sadly spire-less medieval church whilst its neighbour across to the south possesses in contrast, one of the finest church spires in this area.  Of interest in the church at Keyston is an oaken cadaver - or wooden skeleton memorial - from a 15th Century tomb.  Good fare is provided in the charming thatched Pheasant Inn at Keyston and in the award winning Bennett's Restaurant at the White Hart in Bythorn.
