Parish Census Results


Some facts and figures about parishes in Huntingdonshire from the 2001 Census:

  • The average (mean) age in Winwick parish (49.1 years old) was more than 18 years older than in Brington and Molesworth parish (30.8 years old).
  • More than 12% of the population were aged 75 or more in Broughton parish compared to none of the population in Covington parish.
  • More than 30% of employed people in Buckworth/Barham & Woolley parishes worked mainly at or from home compared to less than 7% in Brampton.
  • More than a quarter of people living in Waresley/Tetworth parishes were self-employed compared to just over 5% of people living in Huntingdon.
  • Over 30% of people in Haddon and Perry parishes were single (never married).
  • The parish with the highest level of people who considered their health to be good or fairly good was Abbots Ripton (98.4%).
  • The level of people qualified to degree level or higher in Great Gransden parish (38.8%) was more than four times higher than in Farcet parish (9.5%).
  • Just 1.9% of households in Grafham parish did not have a car or van.
  • There were 2.3 cars per household in Winwick parish compared to 1.1 in St Neots Rural parish.
