The 2001 Census was held on 29th April 2001. The Census is the only count of all people and households in the UK and it asks the same questions of everyone. This makes it easy to compare areas within the district with each other and other parts of the country. The Census provides a great deal of statistical information that assists the planning and funding of public services.
A detailed explanation of the methodology behind the 2001 Census is available on the Office for National Statistics website (right) along with results for the whole of the UK.
Local results can be found using the links on the left. The council has produced profiles of the district and its wards. There is also a link to profiles of the district's parishes, which were produced by Cambridgeshire County Council.
A range of factsheets are also available on the district results page. These were compiled to compare district level results with local, regional and national results. Topics include transport, housing and ethnicity.
