Race Equality Scheme


This section provides information about how the Council is complying with its legal obligations under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000, namely to eliminate discrimination and promote equality of opportunity and good race relations.

The Council’s race equality scheme explains the Council's commitment to diversity in the community and the workforce.  This document can be found on the right.

The results of the Council's race assessments for the first and second years are available on the right.  A report on equality monitoring of staff can also be viewed.

Information on the ethnicity of Huntingdonshire's residents can be found in the Census results linked on the right.  Cambridgeshire County Council's Research Group have produced reports on ethnicity and religion in Cambridgeshire and on ethnicity in the East of England.  These can be accessed from the County Council's website using the external links on the right.

The Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum and Peterborough Racial Equality Council have recently published results of research into BME communities in rural Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The results of this research can be found in the report listed in the linked documents on the right.

A study has recently been undertaken into the needs of the Gypsy/Traveller population within the Cambridge sub-region (Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and some parts of Suffolk & Norfolk).  This study was commissioned by Cambridgeshire County Council and information is available at a district level.  The study involved interview surveys with 313 Gypsy/Travellers looking at their accommodation needs, patterns of work and travel, health and education.  The report on the findings of the study can be accessed from the link under linked documents on the right.
