Neighbourhood Policing And Neighbourhood Policing Panels

The Huntingdonshire Community Safety Partnership recognises the importance of engaging local communities in delivering its Strategy and has always worked with key agencies and individuals through local groups and projects.

Neighbourhood Policing was introduced in 2006 and aims to improve links between the Police and their local communities across the country.  The Partnership fully supports Cambridgeshire Constabulary's Neighbourhood Policing project throughout Huntingdonshire.  Seven Neighbourhood Policing Teams have been set up in the District: Huntingdon, Oxmoor, North and West Hunts (Yaxley, Sawtry and villages), Ramsey, St Ives, St Neots and Eynesbury.  You can find out more information by visiting the Cambridgeshire Constabulary website - see external links on the right of the screen.

At Neighbourhood Policing Panel meetings members of the public are able to have the opportunity to become involved in decisions about policing priorities in their own area.  The Panels are supported by the Community Safety Team employed by the District Council, as well as other agencies and groups such as Neighbourhood Watch, residents associations, and representatives from schools and Town and Parish Councils.  Panels will meet every quarter to address issues of crime and disorder in the local communities; these might include problems such as anti-social behaviour; vehicle crime; fear of crime, burglary and road safety.

If you wish to get involved you can contact Chief Inspector of Communities at Cambridgeshire Constabulary on 0845 456 4564.

All meetings take place at 7.30 p.m. - 9.30 p.m. and the dates for meetings during 2008 are:
