Rural communities suffer from similar crime problems to those of urban areas, such as car crime, burglary, drugs and alcohol problems and anti-social behaviour. They also have their own unique crime problems like theft of expensive farm equipment, diesel theft, hare coursing, flytipping, trespass and criminal damage to crops and fields.
Because rural communities are smaller and some-times more closely knit, often the impact of crime feels greater than in urban areas. Huntingdonshire Community Safety Partnership recognises this and seeks to provide reassurance and information for those living in villages and rural areas.
The Community Safety Team works closely with agencies such as the police and Cambridgeshire Countryside Watch to help rural communities to fight crime and encourage neighbours to look out for each other.
