Domestic Violence


Nationally, according to the British crime survey (2000), the largest increase in types of violent crime has been domestic violence.  It is also  known that the incidents of domestic violence are grossly under-reported.

28% of all violence reported to the police in Huntingdonshire was domestic violence.  It happens to men as well as women and also takes place in same-sex relationships.

Domestic violence and abuse can include any of the following:

  • Physical abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Psychological abuse
  • Financial or material abuse

The Huntingdonshire Domestic Violence Forum is made up of a number of local agencies and organisations who aim to raise awareness of domestic violence and its effects on families and children, and improve services for those experiencing domestic abuse.
