Criminal Damage

Criminal damage is when some-one deliberately or recklessly destroys or damages property.  The damage can be to dwellings, buildings, vehicles or other property.  Criminal damage can be as varied as a broken window, graffiti or a scratched vehicle.

People are often reluctant to report criminal damage to the police for a number of reasons.  This is because they may think that the damage is so small it is not worth reporting  or that it as a waste of their own or police time, or that the police are not interested.

The Community Safety Team would like to encourage members of the public to report matters of criminal damage.  Although sometimes the police may not be able to respond to the call because of other emergency or priority calls this does not mean that they are not interested or willing to help where possible.  Reporting incidents of criminal damage helps the police to build up a more accurate picture of crime in Huntingdonshire and target their resources appropriately.

In an EMERGENCY call 999.

To report all other crimes and to give information to the police you should ring 0845 456 4564 or you can go into a local police station.
