The Community Safety Team at Huntingdonshire District Council aims to work in partnership to reduce low level crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour; as well as reducing the effect it has on people's lives and society in general.
This means that we work with other agencies such as the police to drive down crime which impacts on people's lives, but is not life threatening. For example, we will look at the issues of shop theft, but not armed robbery, as the police are best placed to deal with major crime.
The Community Safety Team does not handle any issues surrounding road safety. If you would like advice or information about this you can ring the Road Safety Team at Cambridgeshire County Council on 01223 717385.
Huntingdonshire District Council has shown it's commitment to helping to reduce crime and disorder by acquiring a Mobile CCTV Vehicle, which can be deployed anywhere in the district. You can find out more information about this initiative by looking at the 'Linked Documents' on the right.
Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs)
Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) are a vital part of the police family and are valued members within the Neighbourhood Policing Teams. Currently, 35 PCSO's work in the seven neighbourhood policing teams within the district as well as a Rural Community Team which are concerned with rural crime, disorder and the fear of crime that is associated with more rural areas. The PCSOs are deployed to all of these teams.
Their role works alongside police officers across Huntingdonshire, assisting the Constabulary to achieve its objectives. PCSOs provide a high profile visible uniformed presence to support communities by assisting in minimising incidents of anti-social behaviour, reducing the fear of crime and reassuring the public, ultimately helping to make Huntingdonshire a safer place to live and work.
