Land Ownership

Local Land Charges are unable to tell you who owns a piece of land or where the boundaries lie, for enquiries of this nature you should contact HM Land Registry (the Government Department responsible for registering land and property) who hold records on the title and ownership or interest in land in England an Wales. Visit their website using the link on the right.

You can also find out on-line who owns a particular property and how much was paid for it by using the new Land Registry on-line service. The site will also allow you to see a property's boundaries and any restrictions put on its use. The site makes a small charge for this service (£2 in June 2006) which is payable on-line. For more information please refer to the website link to the Land Registry Online on the right.
