The Burgess Civic Hall provides a spectacular setting for your wedding reception. This beautiful hall has the flexibility to accommodate parties from 100 to 350 people for a sit down meal.
With it’s own separate entrance from the rest of the building, The Foyer provides an ideal space to welcome your guests and offer arrival drinks. The Balcony around the hall is the perfect location for additional seating, well - suited for those who want to escape the disco perhaps!
We would be delighted to organise catering “in-house” for parties of up to 140 for a sit down meal, or more for a finger buffet (see following pages for menus). If your numbers are greater than this, you are welcome to bring in your own caterers, or we would be able to liaise with outside caterers on your behalf (kitchen fee applies).
Our professional team of experienced staff understand that it’s not just the food that makes your wedding day one to remember. We are able to help you organise entertainment, flowers, coloured linen and decoration – all of which combine to help make your day that little bit more memorable.

To Book a Civil Wedding Ceremony
1) Please contact our Hospitality & Events Manager to check availability and to make an appointment to view our function rooms.
2) Make a provisional booking once you have selected a date
3) Contact the Registrar to check that they are available to perform the civil ceremony on the date that you have selected and give them the necessary Notice of Marriage.
4) Once the Registrar has confirmed that you are able to be married and on the date chosen, please confirm your booking by returning a signed copy of the booking form with payment of your deposit.
You may give a Notice of Marriage to the Superintendent Registrar up to 12 months in advance so that he/she can conduct the ceremony on your chosen date.
Please note that only a civil, non – religious ceremony is permitted. Any music, readings, words or performances that form part of the ceremony must be secular. The content of the ceremony must be agreed in advance with the Superintendent Registrar. All guests must be seated throughout the ceremony and no alcohol may be consumed in the room before or during this time.
